Teresa is a British/Maltese mixed media abstract artist who after returning to art as a mature student, completed an MA in Art and Science at Central Saint Martins in 2020. Her practice is concerned with the formation and recollection of memory and she explores the nature of memory and its vulnerabilities in the context of personal histories, family, and relationships.
She looks at which details of our experiences carry the most significance and importance to be selected and committed to memory for later recall, and considers the relationships between sensory perception, awareness and memory. Teresa applies a broad spectrum of processes to these details and abstracts them to form an emotional response rather than a literal interpretation.
She lives in West London working from her home studio, and after gaining a distinction from the MA Art & Science course she was awarded the Postgraduate Cass Art Prize 2020 for her Memory Skeleton series. A selection of these works was chosen to be included in the London Grads Now exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London in the summer of 2020.
